Yin and Yang in Tai Chi

Yin and yang describe a relationship: yielding and advancing, empty and full, closing and opening. In Tai Chi, these qualities are not fixed opposites. They transform into one another through timing and attention.

The familiar black-and-white diagram is a useful doorway, but practice gives the idea texture. Weight shifts, changes of direction, and the alternation between gathering and extending make relationship visible in motion.
